This gearbox is used on a cross travel axis for a high bay crane. Our customer sent the gearbox to us after he removed it from the crane due to the unit being noisy and leaking oil. Our gearbox engineers dismantled the unit and assessed the condition. We found that a bearing had collapsed causing wear to the input pinion and primary gear from metal debris damaging the gear teeth. The gears, shafts and bearings were removed. The remaining gears were serviceable however we found wear to the output shaft hollow bore and the input shaft bearing housing was also worn. We cleaned the gearbox casing and bored out then sleeved the input shaft bearing housing. A new pinion gear and primary gear were fitted, a new output shaft was fitted, all bearings and seals were replaced and the gearbox was assembled. We filled the unit with fresh lubricant and checked the operation of the gearbox before shipping back to our customer.
