This servo motor was working in a tissue plant when the failure happened. The motor was removed from the production line and sent to us for repair. Our assessment found the brake disk had worn and the brake mechanical assembly had mechanical ware beyond serviceable limits. Both bearing housings were also worn. The motor was overhauled and the bearing housings were bored out and sleeved, the rotor was balanced to G1.0 a new brake assembly was supplied and the brake disk was relined. The resolver alignment was set and the servo motor was coupled to our load test rig. As the brake had been refurbished we wanted to ensure that it was set and operating correctly to OEM specification. Our load rig can apply a torque to the motor shaft when the brake is applied and load the brake to specification, this test ensures the brake does not slip and is holding correctly. On this test the brake was holding at over 60Nm. The load test was carried out on the motor successfully and the motor was dispatched.
