This type of Allen Bradley PLC is rather old and complex, repairing them is a specialized task. On this occasion we were not able to affect a repair as the damage on the processor card was significant. We also saw that the memory back up battery had failed. The customer still needed a positive outcome as these PLC’s are obsolete. On this occasion we supplied a service exchange unit out of our stock of Allen Bradley PLC parts. The service exchange unit was fitted with a new battery and the memory card from the faulty unit was fitted into the replacement unit. The unit was tested then shipped to our customer. We informed him that as this was a replacement unit, he would need to reprogram the PLC first before fitting into the machine.

Repair is not always the best option, on this occasion we were in a better position to support our customer by supplying a replacement unit.
