Description – Servo Drive Repair
Make –GEC
Model - MkII SB

|
The GED MkII SB DC servo drive is a grandfather of the servo drive generation, it has been around for many years and there are still a number of them on older machine tools in industry. We have been repairing these for 20 years and have a lot of experience with them. When this one was sent to us it was in a very poor state. It had been to another repair company who has not carried out a quality repair. There were areas of the PCB that were burnt, a number of the power transistors were of the incorrect specification, two of the driver stages were faulty and cosmetically the perspex cover was burnt. Our findings were emailed over to our customer with a quote for a repair and refurbish to the drive. The repair was accepted and the customer commented that he was finding it difficult to get support on these drives. The drive was stripped and cleaned. The power transistors were replaced with original OEM specification devices. The PCB burn marks were repaired and insulated. All electrolytic capacitors were replaced with higher specification types. The driver circuits were repaired and the faults on the brake circuit were rectified. The brake voltage was set to specification. Once this was complete the drive was reassembled. A full load and soak test was carried out on our DC servo rig where all aspects of the drives performance were checked. To finish off the repair we supplied and fitted new insulating pillars and a new Perspex cover to the drive
