High speed AC spindle motors are used in a variety of applications from CNC machine tools to woodworking equipment.
These motors are high precision machines and require specialist testing facilities compared to standard AC motors.
If you consider the speed of these motors can be upwards of 10,000 rpm the repair and testing becomes critical to ensure correct and reliable operation on your machines.
Most standard rewind companies can only run these motors open loop, on a fixed 50Hz source which is not an adequate final test. Recently we have invested in and developed a 160Kw High Frequency Spindle Motor Test Station.
This means we can run small and large spindle motors to their full nameplate speed, even in closed loop modes, either vertically or horizontally mounted.
Our method of testing ensures the high precision bearings are tested at full speed, we check the vibration at full speed and closed loop testing means we check the feedback sensors are operating correctly.
