Thermal Imaging, a different use
Are you wasting energy without realising it ?
Thermal image surveys are useful to monitor plant condition, however, they can be used to save energy costs too.
Take a look at the picture below, it was taken during one of our routine thermography surveys at a customers site.
Part of the lagging is missing from a steam pipe. You can see from the marker points, the temperature of the pipe without the lagging is at 155.5 degrees Celsius as opposed to 28.1 degrees Celsius for the pipe with the lagging.
Leaving the pipe in this condition is wasting energy and wasting money.

Overnight Repair on a Demag Motor
Demag motors are specialist hoist & materials handling motors. A local customer phoned to say he was in an urgent breakdown situation;he needed a quick turnround on a hoist motor. Once the motor was in our works it was quickly assessed. The windings had failed. We ordered the special bearings and seals from the OEM on an overnight delivery and our winding shop stripped the burnt out windings. We checked the data against our winding library and started to wind the stator to a full class ‘H’ insulation specification. The windings were completed overnight and the motor was rebuilt the following morning then shipped out to a relieved customer. |
