Servo Motor Repair Workshop

servo motor workshop

Our dedicated servo motor repair workshop has all the modern tools and equipment needed to carry out a successful servo motor repair.

Assessing Bench
Here the servo motor is first assessed to find out what is wrong.
The feedback sensors are checked and alignment is recorded.
if there are no winding or contamination faults the motor is ‘off load’ run tested

Servo Motor Repair Assessing

Servo Motor Repair Workshop Stripping

Stripping Benches
The servo motor is stripped into component parts.
Each bench is equipped with all the mechanical tools required to strip the motor.
All mechanical parts are checked for fit and tolerance.

Feedback Sensor Repair Bench
We use a number of our own designed and propriartory test pieces to check the operation of incremental and absolute encoders, resolvers, hall effect sensors, serial encoders and memory devices. We also use the Mitchell TI5000EX

Servo Motor Repair Workshop - Cleaning

Cleaning Stations
All parts of the servo motor are cleaned to remove grease, oil, cutting fluid or any other contaminant found.
We use a variety of cleaning stations that best fits the requirement. Vaqua blast, ultrasonic tanks, rotary wash tanks and solvent clean tanks.
All the parts are then dried in our temperature controlled ovens.

Rotor / Armature Balancing
Each rotor or armature from a servo motor is check balanced against a standard tolerance.
All mechanical reclamations i.e. keyway repairs, bearing housing or journal repairs, are carried out in our fully equipped mechanical workshop.

Assembly Benches
Once all parts are serviced the servo motor is assembled using special tools required for servo motor assembly.
The brakes are fitted and set, the feedback sensors are assembled and set and the motor is ready for the first in a series of final tests.

Servo Motor Testing
We light run test all servo motors when the repair has been carried out. The feedback sensor alignment is set or programmed and the motor is tested ‘off load’ to check for operation. We use a variety of our own designed test rigs, manufacturers drives and the Mitchell TI3000 to run the servo motor prior to the full load test being carried out.

Servo Load Test Rig
Our load test rig has been designed in house and is able to fully test the servo motors operation against a dynamic load.
The touch screen interface controller can increase load in increments up to 60Nm. We have also incorporated a motion controller that can dynamically adjust the load to what would be seen on site e.g. a robot or a machine tool.
The load rig also checks the brake holding torque and finds at what point the brake slips when in operation. This is a critical test for robot arm servo motors.
