We at Fletcher Moorland are experts in repairing and testing high speed spindle motors. We have developed a 160Kw, 2000Hz spindle test facility to run test all spindle motor repairs.This 11Kw, 4 pole spindle motor is being run in closed loop mode to 200Hz giving the nameplate maximum speed of 6000 rpm.Vibration analysis must be carried out on high frequency motors to ensure the precision bearings are in good condition and the mechanical fits are correct. We have found problems in spindle motors operating at maximum speed that were not evident when running on just a 50Hz supply.We use a state of the art Commtest VB7 analyser to record the vibration waveform. The vibration frequency spectrum is analysed by a skilled engineer who uses the data and compiles a full test report before the motor is shipped out to our customer.
